We need ideas for hosting a golf tournament for the American Cancer Society.?

WE NEED IDEAS ON THE BEST MONTH TO DO A GOLF TOURNAMENT, AND HOW TO PREPARE TO HOLD ONE. WHAT ARE GOOD GIFTS, HOW TO ADVERTISE, AND THE WHOLE NINE YARDS. THIS IS A FIRST FOR US. THANKS

Chosen Answer:

I like September as well

Here are some brain storming thoughts:
* Scramble format seems to do well
* Sell hole sponsorships
* Long Drive Contests on Par 5′s
* Hole-in-one contests on par 3′s (there are services that help here) – you’ll need workers on these holes
* Many times on par 3′s organizations will offer a sleeve of golf balls for .00 with a chance to upgrade. If you can just land on the green, they will upgrade to a premium sleeve of golf balls.
* Sell Muligans for putting
* Find a Pro Sponsor for pictures and to tee off with groups on one of the holes (usually the 10th hole)
* Cheesy prizes for HIGHEST score
* Door prize drawings
* Great BBQ
* Consider gift of a golf towel for all entrants (build this into entrance fee or sell logo opportunity to a sponsor)
* Think ahead about how you will handle rain-outs
* Beverage carts on the course
* Get the course to offer discounts on future golf
* Have a pro come and give a demonstration lesson
* Be sure and plan for EXTREMELY slow play. I don’t know why, but that always seems to happen
* In short, think of creative ways to sell sponsorships for absolutely EVERY cost you might incure!
* Give news media plenty of notice for coverage
* Get time on sports radio to promote
* Make it a highlight of your web page
* Allow for sign-ups on your web page with credit card (require prepayment and no refunds)
* Let people know if this will be tax deductable

I’m sure there’s lots more, but this is a start – Good luck!

    i think that what u r doin is awsome! i think that the best month to do it would be sept.b/c its not to hot and its not to cold (do it @ the beginning of the month though) just go 2 a local golf course and ask them how much it would b to do it and c if u can get a discount. to advertise it u should tell some local radio stations, make flyers and posters and tell the golf course peeps to tell every1 that comes to the golf course about it. u should also do fundrasers and ask 4 donations to cut the cost 4 it. and again i th
