I have been at host to two baby showers and at neither did the mother to be give hostesses gifts. Now, my shower is coming up in a few weeks and I am wondering if I should get the hostesses gifts? I have NINE hostesses (because 4 women insisted on wanting to be a hostess) So buying gifts could get expensive for me. And they are only having to pitch in or less- which I think is very reasonable. What are your thoughts?
Chosen Answer:
Yes, it is custom to give the hostess or hostesses a gift of some sort. I had eight hostesses for my baby shower. I gave each one a flower arrangement with a thank you card. If you are really strapped for cash then perhaps write each hostess a very personal thank you letter and put a cute maternity picture in with it. If you can bake, then make them some treats they can take home with them after the shower. At the very least get them a thank you card to recognize their generosity.

I bought vases at a thrift store (never buy vases new. So many people give those suckers away, it’s totally not worth it) and several bunches of flowers and made each hostess a bouquet. Then I wrote each a personal letter thanking her. I had 4 hostesses and I think I spent a total of $20.
My sister in law hosted my baby shower, and yes I bought her a bottle of nice wine and some chocolates with a thank you card.
Maybe you could do something really simple as a gift like make a wee card and perhaps have a print of one of your baby scans on it? Idk some people might be weirded out by that idea, but you could keep it very simple – even making some fudge or something for them is a small but nice thank you.
My best friend organised my whole baby shower, but I had to pay for it all.
So all though I thanked her for her hard work, She didnt pay for anything so I didnt feel the need to buy her something.
However, for my baby shower I personally made everyone a book mark.
I got a picture of one of my ultrasound and wrote poem undernearth it, then printed it on nice papar and laminated it. Everyone was very greatful. And even know, almost a year after my baby shower, when i go to someones house, I still se the bookmark poem on there fridge. glad they liked it
